Socially Engaged Art and the Church
Socially Engaged Art and The Church is a small booklet written by Susan Y. Shimazu with five lessons that can be used to help artists and activists within the Christian community explore their passions and lived experiences. The lessons provide a Christian context to social practice, and exercises to help individuals identify a “public” using examples and discussion questions. The curriculum also challenges artists and activists to take time to listen and consider their own long-term commitments and how these might fit with the needs and positionality of their communities.
