Preparing for a Summer of Growth and Hope

Little Lights celebrated the successful conclusion of the school year at the Jubilee Center, marking the completion of its first full academic year of ministry in the new space. As another school year came to a close, staff rejoiced in the academic growth of students, the deepening relationships with families, and the many opportunities to share Christ’s love through daily presence and care. The ministry has now turned its focus to preparing for Summer Lights, a five-week summer day camp that will serve 56 students at the Jubilee Center. Staff and volunteers are prayerfully planning lessons, activities, and experiences that will foster academic growth, joyful community, and spiritual formation throughout the summer. On April 20, 15 golfers participated in The Hundred, a unique fundraising challenge in which each golfer committed to playing 100 holes of golf in a single day to support Little Lights’ holistic, Christ-centered ministry among underserved youth and families in Washington, DC. Through the generosity of the golfers and those who sponsored them, the event raised more than $25,000 to help sustain this work. As Little Lights moves from one season of ministry into the next, one lesson has been the importance of faithfully walking alongside families throughout the entire year. The organization is also seeing how God is using the Jubilee Center as more than a program space—it is becoming a place where children, families, volunteers, and neighbors experience belonging, build lasting relationships, and encounter the hope of the Gospel.
