More Connections with Kelowna Network Mapping

Building upon the work in previous months of connecting with a variety of community members and organizations to hear their perspectives on Indigenous reconciliation and right-relatedness, Relatives in Reconciliation: Kelowna Network Mapping recently met with several community organizations for conversation. We first met with June Foreman, a community advocate who works at the Mennonite Central Committee Thrift Store and hosts the podcast Conversation Cafe. We chatted about Intergenerational Trauma and Healing and met with a church couple from Emmanuel Church to discuss their experiences of faith, truth, Indigenous relations, and teaching. We also met with Metis Community Services, one of our main partners in the developing network. We spoke about being good ancestors and the role cultural revitalization plays in Metis reconnection. And finally we reconnected with Reconciliation Collective, a sharing circle that emerged from a series of Kairos Blanket Exercises in March 2023. The circle shared how story became a space for learning, shifting perspectives and growing as relatives. Notes were saved to a Padlet featuring the stories from each of these interviews and conversations.
