Empowering the Congregation to Reach the Ethiopian Community

2025-26: This project outlines a comprehensive initiative designed to foster a more inclusive and cohesive community through targeted gospel outreach and engagement strategies. The goal is to establish a dedicated outreach program or committee within the congregation to facilitate meaningful engagement, while developing and offering culturally and linguistically relevant services. The initiative also seeks to foster community integration and peaceful coexistence through joint activities and events, and to equip congregational volunteers and leaders with the skills and cultural competency necessary for effective interaction in the Ethiopian community in Grand Rapids, MI.

Bridging Generations: Training the Next Generation of Spiritual Leaders to Strengthen

2026: As the sole Ethiopian Evangelical congregation in West Michigan, the church serves as a vital cultural and spiritual anchor for a rapidly growing population of first- and second-generation Ethiopian immigrants, standing as a beacon of God’s grace in the community. To support this growth the church needs to equip its young adults and new lay leaders with the spiritual maturity and skills necessary to guide a thriving bicultural congregation. This project directly resolves this need through rigorous theological training, intentional mentorship, and practical ministry governance instruction. By empowering a new cohort of servant-leaders, this initiative will secure the church’s institutional future, deepen discipleship, and fortify its vital internal ministries for the glory of God. Grant funds will support the development of gospel-centered curriculum and training materials, mentor stipends, host leadership workshops, and necessary program supplies. This sacred investment will drive intergenerational collaboration, directly aligning with the HUB Foundation’s mission to strengthen pastoral formation and cultivate stewards of the Kingdom.
